Meet Shawn
Cheqed It’s founder started operating equipment in the early 90’s and moved to operating cranes in 1995, he spent the majority of his career building bridges, also operating a wide range of heavy equipment. His passion for cranes and operating equipment is just as strong today as when he started over 20 years ago. All of Shawn’s previous accumulation of experience has helped build this training company to what it is today.
Shawn is certified in ABC, ABL, ABW, BTF, DDO, LBC, STC, TLL, TSS, TWR, RIG-1&2, AND SGP. He is also a Certified Mobile Crane Inspector, an accredited NCCCO Practical Exam Proctor, an OSHA 10-30 HR Instructor as well as a BLS & Heart Saver Instructor.
Why I Do What I Do:
The events that unfolded on May 20th 2008 with a crane accident that took the life of a friend and co-worker forever changed the way I looked at my career as an operator and I knew I was going to become an instructor to help inform and instruct people so that they would be able to be safe and make educated decisions with their profession.
Shawn was like a majority of the construction industry workers and learned as he went along, learning from the ones that help build companies foundations with their exemplary skills and knowledge. With that learning there were some important factors that were sometimes left out or a person’s personal experience filled in the blanks instead of the manufacture’s manual being referenced.
Shawn also volunteered 17 years as a Fire Fighter and EMT-I Training officer but retired in 2018 to continue training.
With over 17 years expierence as a volunteer fire fighter and EMT-I, Cheqed It also offers Heart Saver CPR/AED First Aid Training.
“I have seen and sat through various equipment training, I have seen the good and not so good instructors that lacked the experience, which led to less enthusiasm or attentiveness” - Shawn Sarsfield
Unfortunately, there are some fast talking training people out there today trying to turn a quick buck and do not have the best interest of your company and employees in mind. Just like the equipment that you buy, do your research on your training companies and their experience.
